Why choose professional nail tools over lower cost options

It could be argued that tools are the most important part of a Russian manicure because it is the foundation upon which is added to. Creating beautiful nail art will be easier if you already have performed a quality manicure. The reason why is any left over cuticle or skin/material left on the nail plate can cause chipping, cracking and breaking of the nail. Everyone wants to have no chip nails and that begins with great work and great work is best performed with quality tools.

The reasons are vast but we will cover some of the defining components that set STALEKS PRO cuticle tools apart from other brands out there. They are specifically designed for nail techs with years of experience in mind. They have tested and improved the nipper designs and blades with the help of professionals working in the industry. Taking feedback and making each new variation better and better at each iteration.

      Different types of tools:

      Cuticle nippers

In todays world cuticle nippers have so many different variations but at the base level they are all designed to get the same outcome. Removal of the dead cuticle and hang nails which is healthy for the skin as well as creates a beautiful aesthetic for the finished product. If all nippers promise to perform the same task then what is the differences of why to choose professional quality?

Here is a list of things to be aware of when asking yourself "which cuticle nipper should I get?"

      1. Which jaw size (blade length) is right?

      2. Is the handle size right for me?

      3. Single spring or dual spring?

      4. Is quality or price more important?

      5. Inclination of the blade

Finding the answer to these questions is going to help you find the nipper that is most going to work best for you. There is no wrong answer and it is all based on personal preference which is one of the great things about STALEKS. They provide so many options we are sure you will find the perfect cuticle nipper.

      Cuticle scissors

With the same goal as nippers we can jump right into the differences and what sets scissors apart from other cuticle cutters. Cuticle scissors have there own skill set when it comes to using them. Many nail techs find it difficult to work with scissors because they can require more precision. But the benefit of scissors over nippers is the speed of use and how clean the cuts are.

Professional scissors are going to be similar in the fact they should all be extremely sharp however from there on many variations come into play when choosing the correct one for you. Here are some questions that are going to help you choose Which cuticle scissor is the best?

      1. Which blade length is right?

      2. Are the finger holes sized right for me?

      3. Are they solid metal or do they have other materials?

      4. Quality vs price, what is more important?

      5. Blade curvature?

Answering these fundamental questions about the scissors is going to help you choose the right tool for you.

      Nail drill bits

Nail drill bits are used to specifically perform a Russian manicure. If you don't know or just want to learn more about What is a Russian manicure? then click that link and find out! If you are already familiar with this style of manicure then you will understand some of the base components and types of products in this category.

Here is a list of important components when deciding which types of bits you want to work with.

      1. What material is the bit made of? - usually described or defined as carbide, ceramic or diamond bits. Each type of material is used for different types of work. Both ceramic and carbide are used to remove gel nails. Diamond bits are used for cuticle removal.

      2. What nail drill bit shape is the best? - There are so many bit shapes out today and they all have different uses. Some of the uses are very broad and some of them are very specific. The shape you decide to choose from your nail supply store is going to be heavily personal. Every experience nail tech seems to have their favorite type and shape and it varies wildly

      3. Quality vs price - you can find many cheaply made drill bits around. These products tend to provide a poor result and can cause pain during the manicure.

      4. What products do you work with?

      5. What grit type is best? -  Again this is all about application. Depending what type of work you need to perform. Are you removing gel polish or acrylic? Are you working with dry skin or oily skin? With each person being different and so many variations it is good to keep a variety of different bits with different grit around to ensure you always have the right tool for the required works.

      Nail cutter

Nail cutters, nail nippers and nail clippers are all a bit different. Nail clippers are your traditional looking tool for removing excess nail. Nail cutters are specifically designed like a nipper which then cuts the nail. Nail nippers are designed for soft nails and generally have a narrow blade. Cutters and nippers are both extremely sharp. There are also many ingrown nail nippers specifically designed for those nails that are difficult to work with. These tools generally work excellent for a combi Russian pedicure using multiple tools to get the desired result.

Often times these tools are specialized for specific uses. Using a nail cutter is ideal for gel extension removal and shaping. Traditional nail clippers are great for natural nails. Nail nippers are specialty tools used on soft nails which are often ingrown.

      Nail files

Very straight forward products here. Used to reduce and shape the nail. The main differences that STALEKS PRO offers in this category is affordability. Due to the design of the nail file system that uses a metal base and a adhesive grit or slide over grit type. This allows you to sanitize the metal base and put a fresh file on for each customer. Because of the design this method is extremely cost effective. In addition to being cost effective they are also professional quality with either a padded option or unpadded back.

Things that matter in this section is are you using them in a nail salon or are you using them at home? If you are in a nail salon you are required by law to have a fresh set of everything for every customer. If you are at home it is recommended to use fresh files but there is no law and lets be honest more of us will use a nail file until it dulls.

The grit types available for nail files are as follows 100 grit, 150 grit, 180 grit and 240 grit. They get finer as the grit type goes up. The lower git files remove more of the nail or builder gel that you have put on where as the finer files get the more soft it makes the edge of the nails. A generally rule of thumb is to start a lower abrasive and work your way up to fine grit to get that wonderful smooth finish we all want on our nails.

      Cuticle pushers

Cuticle pushers, curettes and other tools in this category have so much variation. Some techs prefer to carry only orange sticks in their nail supply to cover handle the work of lifting the cuticle and removing skin from the nail plate. We recommend for techs who want high quality outcomes to use professional pushers.

Pushers of high quality generally are made of metal. They have many different shapes and uses. They have specific uses from lift the cuticle, removing skin from the nail plate, curettes are used to get under the nail to remove dead skin and dirt and so many more uses and shapes.

The most popular generally have a slightly rounded pusher and a blade on the opposite side. The side with the pusher is used to lift the cuticle. The blade is used to remove skin from the nail plate and also can be used in cuticle removal.

      Pedicure tools

When it comes to performing a pedicure you are probably using all of the above tools but sometimes you need something extra to make your pedicure extra. There are specialty cuticle nippers, nail nippers and callous removal tools that make the task easier.

Some of the most exciting tools specifically for pedicure that have hit the market in recent years are pedicure disks. These are specifically designed for removing callous the same way a rasp would except for you attach a disk to a nail drill and then the desired grit type you would like. What makes this so great is it takes away the required manually work that often comes with a rasp and you allow the machine to do the work for you.

In addition to pedicure disks there are cuticle nippers, tweezers and pushers specifically designed for specific uses in a pedicure. Often these tools are not required to perform a pedicure but when you need to perform the task they are designed for. You will be especially excited to have them when the need arises because it will make your work that much easier.

      In conclusion:

We hope that these short descriptions will help you pick which tools are going to work best for you. Starting out with a high quality manicure helps you with the application of gel nail polish down the line and also any nail art you wish to create. Using professional nail tools helps you create the long lasting no chip manicures. Always start with a good foundation and it will help you achieve the best results.
